Kalu and the Electric Joint blend the powers of psychedelic soul music with the driving beat of rock and roll and the ancient rhythms of Africa. Born in Nigeria, Kalu James relocated to Austin, Texas, where he put together a stellar ensemble of players who graciously fuel and follow his deep well of eclectic influences. The group’s new record, Time Undone is a sonic masterpiece of original tunes with a positive message and soul-stirring beats. The arrangements are masterfully crafted allowing the songs to breathe and flow. From the first note, these musicians show that they’re prepared to carry modern music forward while still paying tribute to the inspirations of their past. Their music invokes a wide range of emotions while influencing with an uplifting message through masterful playing.

Chris Catalena

Chris Catalena is a songwriter from Bryan, Texas. Spaceflight Records is issuing his first full length, self titled album with no monikers attached and no band name. Having been born the son of an unknown musician, and having been an actual outlaw turning 21 in prison (just like the Merle Haggard song), the life and times of Chris Catalena read like an absurd and twisted movie plot. This new album is a step towards mature songwriting and a more raw recording technique. The songs are laced with sorrow and subtle triumphs, all stemming from real life stories and events. Chris Catalena is making a genuine attempt at pure, no bull corn songwriting that reaches back in spirit to Neil Young, Kris Kristofferson, and Bob Dylan. The record was captured in Topanga Canyon.

Think No Think (TNT) is a noisy, melodic, powerhouse rock band from Austin, TX. After releasing a few homemade EPs recorded in the living room of singer/guitarist John Dowey, they premiered the 2016 LP Silent City, produced by Brett Orrison and Alex Maas (Black Angels). 2018 saw the band support Gary Clark Jr. on two separate runs: playing high profile venues such as Red Rocks in Denver, Capitol Theatre in New York, and the Chicago Theatre. Additionally in 2018, Think No Think toured the East Coast and Southeast by-way-of Miami to play the International Noise Conference. The dynamic trio is composed of Lee Adams on bass and Santiago Vela (The Sword) on drums. Think No Think’s sophomore LP Nothing Really Matters, produced by Paul Leary (Butthole Surfers, Sublime, Cocky Bitches), is set for release on Spaceflight Records in 2019

I was born and raised in Bowling Green, Ohio and never spent longer than 2 months outside of it until the age of 24 when after 5 1/2 years changing majors in college I decided I'd had enough, loaded my guitar and some clothes into my friend Georgia's car and had her drop me off in Austin, TX. Going on 9 years later, I'm still trying to figure out what the hell I'm doing and I'm writing about it all as I go.

I felt like I was having a hard time showing people what I meant so 5 years ago I started Croy and the Boys to help me explain it. Our music is rooted in country but it comes out sounding the way we hear it. And we don't mind. Hope y'all don't either.
