Hollow Coats is a collaboration of Austin, Texas songwriters and producers led by Michael Wisdom. Ignited by a lifelong immersion in music of all genres, Wisdom started the project in 2017 with a trove of diverse instrumentals and the desire to collaborate with likeminded musicians.
Previously the composer and drummer for indie-electronic band The Digital Wild, Wisdom’s musical style is recognizable by his dark, sultry melodies and towering rhythms. Initially composing electronic and trip-hop during the rise of EDM, he later explored a wider array of genres, leading to the nebulous soundscape that is Hollow Coats.
Over the last decade, Wisdom’s drumming and compositions have graced many venue and festival stages including Fun Fun Fun Fest, Float Fest, the X-Games, and SXSW. His work has been recognized by Austin Monthly, The Austin Chronicle, Time Out Austin, and the non-profit Black Fret.
Hollow Coats’ debut collaboration with producer Lonely Child (Bryan Ray) blurs the line between acoustic and electronic sounds and features songwriters Adam Diener (Obsolete Machines), Seth Woodward (STRVCK), among many other Austin instrumentalists and performers.
